Cannot access shared folder from applications

While I have no problem with my Parallels Shared Folder from the Desktop (Windows Explorer) I cannot access it from any application, e.g. Word.

When I use the file dialog in Word and try to open the Shared Folder, Windows asks for a password and no matter what I type in (e.g. my Windows user/password) I cannot access it.

Any ideas?
 
I can access my shared folders just fine from windows file dialogs.

I use a shortcut on the desktop to the PSF share folders.

Also, I have a MAC OS X web server running, sharing the web root documents folder allows you to visit that share folder from windows as a web server.

Pretty cool, if that's of any use to you.
 
Strange: I created a shortcut on the desktop directly to the shared folder and it works. When I use the default short cut which Parallels put on the desktop it does not work.

domim - how exactly did you create the new shortcut. I tried to create a new one on the desktop also, but still get the XP login popup that I can't get past.
 
Can't access shared from Tivo Desktop

The only reason I put Windows on my MacBook was to transfer recordings from my Tivo (they've been promising Mac functionality for two years.) I've got it working, but Tivo Desktop won't let me save things to any shared folder (I'd rather not fill up my boot drive with huge video files); I can see the folder in \\.psf but when I select it, I get the message "A device attached to the system is not functioning." I've tried shared folders on my boot drive and on an external.

Another program I use for converting the resulting files sees the shared folders just fine.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
 
You might consider creating a second .hdd file and connecting it to your VM, then downloading your video files to that second drive. Then your conversion program can put its results anywhere you like, and you can delete the files from the second disk, and go around again. You can delete the second .hdd when you are done.
