Builds 11990 and 11992 compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.6.5/10.6.6

I made sure I had backups of my Parallels 4 disk image, and my XP file, then bit the bullet and upgraded to Parallels 6.

It worked fine, much better than smaller updates in the past.

The build I installed is 6.0.11994. So far it's been working perfectly on my 27" iMac running OS 10.6.4.

Edit: I see the thread topic concerns OS 10.6.5 and 10.6.6, which I don't have. The (refurb) iMac I got in August came with 10.6.4. So maybe my experience doesn't apply.

I installed it on my MacBookPro and it worked fine. I am running Windows 7 Home there.

I also installed 6.0.11994 on my MacPro 2x3 GHz Quad-Core running 10.6.6 and it has been nothing but problems. I cannot get Parallels Tools to install. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate there. I tried dropping the CPU count to 1 but still can't get the tools working. I'm wishing I never upgraded to 11994 now. I'm getting Windows crashes there now too. Aaaargh!

I opened up a VM backup image copy made in August 2010 of the same Windows 7 environment and got the tools to install. But now in that one, I can't seem to get the Windows updates to install now that the tools are loaded. Damn I thought I was home free.

My thoughts are that there is something in the Windows 7 updates between 8/23/10 and now that is causing Parallels Tools for 6.0.11994 not to install.

I have all my Windows 7 Ultimate updates installed and current as of today, but when I try to install Parallels Tools from 6.0.11994, it gets almost all the way there, then it stops and backs out all the updates. A message window pops up and tells me that if failed and I have no option but to restart my OS. This is the message from the Parallels Tools Installation window, "An error occurred while installing Parallels Tools. Click OK to restart your virtual machine, and then try to install Parallels Tools again."
I have CPU set to 1 now and memory set <4GB and still can't get Tools installed. Aaaaargh!!

Any ideas what could be interfering with this install? Thanks Dave

Have you checked to make sure it hasn't been updated to 10.6.6? I had 10.6.4 but then looked & it had been updated with the regular updates it has prompted me to run.

Just so others know, I'm running the trial version of 11996, did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 32bit (trial) on a 13" mid-2009 MBP 4GB ram, and have been running it without any problems (none of the tools problems, reboots, or vm crashes that others have recently reported). I'm running visual studio and sql server trials inside it.

I'm running 11994 on OS 10.6.7. At least three oddball problems started that I never had before:

- Parallels no longer responds to the CMD-Q to Quit keystroke. I have to go into the menu with the mouse to manually select Quit

- Even in Coherence Mode, Windows Vista Ultimate artifacts appear for a few seconds upon starting or stopping the virtual machine. On startup, it's the Vista Taskbar and on shutdown it's the entire Vista Desktop and shutdown notice (in a Window view...)

I am using MacBook Pro 13" 2011 8GB RAM with OS X 10.6.7.
I always charging my iPhone 4 4.3.1 using my MacBook and using my iPhone for tethering
I will try to boot in 32-bit kernel and see the impact

Kernel panics with 11994 and 10.6.7

Hi all,

I have serious issues with 11994 and guest-XP (have to check with guest-W7).

OSX crashes after starting a graphics intense application, telling me to hold the power button to switch the Book off. Sometimes I get a crash report after reboot, most of the times the system just hangs.
The biggest problem is the harddisk once got corrupted after a crash and I had to re-install and restore completely.

I am using MacBook Pro 13" 2010 4GB RAM with OS X 10.6.7.

Will investigate more...

I update with osx patches as of 15/04/11 and upgrade iphone fw to 4.3.2, then reenable osx to boot with 64bit.
Still causing kernel panic when using iphone tethering and run parallel
Hope Apple fix 10.6.7 soon

Well i had a nice week last week on my imac 27 i5 with 10G ram Win 7 32 bit using the 11994 release and then today my VM started again blue screening.

Is there anything else I can do because this is super frustrating
