Build 1884 reboots computer

I just downloaded and installed build 1884 and installed it on a 17" Mac Book Pro. Upgrading from a previous version which was working fine.

however as soon as I try to start the OS (win xp) the whole computer reboots.

Another odity is that in the "about parallels" windows it says build 1848.

Anyone have any advice to help me get it running again?
 
Check to see if you by chance have two Parallels builds in your Mac, and check to make sure that you are not accidentally activating the older build. The updater will install the new build under "Applications" but if you are like me and moved the program to another directory, any Dock shortcuts, etc... will point to the older build and not the newer build. Once I launched the newly installed build, my Macbook did not reboot. I felt pretty dumb too :)

Well, I am a little confused. I uninstalled and reinstalled (even re-downloaded) and it did the same thing. As a test I noticed that after an uninstall the application was still there. So I moved it to the trash and reinstalled 1884. But it didn't put an application in the applications folder. Or anywhere that I could detect.

So I am not sure what to do.
 
PROBLEM RESOLVED

I am just posting back in case someone in the future has the same problem.

Aparantly the Applications folder that is on the left side of my finder window points to an applications folder within my user directory. This pointer in the finder window was created by the system, not me and has always held all of my applications (the folder it points to). Even my original install of Parallels installed into this application folder.

However, the new version seemed to install into the applications folder within the root of my hard drive. Hence all the problems. The uninstaller did not remove the parallel app in the /user/apps folder.

Can anyone shed some light on the purpose of these two seperate apps folders and which is the appropriate one? Should I keep everything in the /user one where every app until now has installed itself? Or should I move everything to the global one? Should I move parallels into the user apps folder with everything else? I don't like the idea of two seperate applications folders.
