After upgrading to Parallels 9, my hard drive is listed as corrupt

I tried running the tool to check the disk, here's the response:

prl_disk_tool check --hdd "/Users/paulmccranie/Documents/Parallels/Windows 8 Final.pvm/Windows 8 Final-0.hdd"
Pauls-iMac:~ paulmccranie$ prl_disk_tool check --hdd "/Users/paulmccranie/Documents/Parallels/Windows 8 Final.pvm/Windows 8 Final-0.hdd"

What's the next step for me getting back to work on this thing?

Cheers,

Paul

When I try to use the Configuration tool to edit the hard drive, I get almost the same thing:

The problem with these warnings is known but it is semi-harmless.
For the disk, pls provide a problem report number, we will look into it to understand the situation (Help -> Report a Problem)

There are 2 different problems in the report. Original one is the following

It looks like you have the very first block inside data image shifted or not aligned. But may be we have a bug in the checking code but we can check this. I'll ask support to provide you correct tool as I can't send the binary through the forum. You should run
prl_disk_check -vv /Users/paulmccranie/Documents/Parallels/Windows 8 Final.pvm/Windows 8 Final-0.hdd/Windows 8 Final-0.hdd.0.{5fbaabe3-6958-40ff-92a7-860e329aab41}.hds
or you can copy me through support or here first 2359296 bytes of the above mentioned image.

The second problem (missed image) is more important. It looks like you have some process running and still keeping the reference to the disk that's why it is not closed. This could be some process running in the background started by Parallels Desktop. I think that you'd better reboot your host and try to start VM again. You should face your original problem. The way of dealing with it is described above.

I am experiencing the same issue -- upgraded to Parallels 9 and suddenly (while using my Windows 8 VM) my Mac froze all applications and a message appeared instructing me to power off the machine. No other options were available, and no explanation was provided. I power cycled the Mac, and then the same VM hard disk corruption error described above appeared.

I followed the instructions found at http://kb.parallels.com/en/113241, but the operation progress stayed at 0%. After half an hour, I aborted the Terminal process and attempted to run it again, but Terminal reported that the volume could not be found. I then rebooted the Mac again, relaunched Parallels, and the issue remained. Again, the operation progress stayed at 0%

I fear that my VM is permenantly corrupt. Reinstalling Windows 8 and all my applications will be a huge hassle, but my real fear is that the issue will recur. Help! I submitted two issues, 13736395 and 13737031.
