Add Ubuntu partition that can be booted or run in Parallels

Hi I would like to add a Ubuntu partition to my Macbook Pro, that I can boot into, and run in Parallels from within macOS. Is this possible? If so how? I understand I can use the macOS bootcamp loader, or open source Refit or Refind - does Parallels work with any of these? Will any of these prevent me from accessing my Windows Bootcamp partition in Parallels?
Thanks

As of now, it is not possible to connect an external partition in Parallels Desktop and use the installation as a virtual machine.

Thanks very much indeed for the quick and informative response, Ajith, in that case I'll create a virtual machine in Parallels, as most of the time I use the other OSes from within macOS.
