An update: if I disable application sharing from the Mac PowerPoint runs just fine. This is a killer: the whole reason I run with the VM is to be able to implement a system where I can open Outlook attachments right into office Mac.

I configured my system to be able to launch attachments in Outlook in Office 2008 on the Mac. Now, even if I launch a .ppt or .pptx file from Mac OS, Powerpoint 2008 takes about 2-3 seconds to display any character I enter. If I suspend the VM, voila, PowerPoint works fine. Any ideas?

I have installed Tools and configured to share apps. I set to default all Word, PowerPoint and Excel to Mac. However, the settings don't seem to stick. Word launches correctly, but PowerPoint may for a while, then starts to launch Excel 2007 on Windows. I can go into the settings where it...

It turns out that VMWare consumes CPU cycles that aren't shown as a running process. So the real CPU consumption is shown by the graphical chart, but not by the running processes. Visually, it looks like VMWare is just as CPU heavy.

VMWare on the same system uses 2%. I way prefer Parallels, but this is killing my battery. I'm on 10.5.3, with build 5600. Ideas?

That did it I had not re-installed the tools.

Set Default App to Mac, but files revert to opening Windows I don't know how to deal with this, but I do think it's a bug. I go in and set to open the office attachments using the Mac app, and it forgets every time I leave parallels and then return.
