Windows 11 can also be installed (non-existing-VM) in this way, but a few extra steps are necessary. The most important of these is that the installation must be done manually. (not via the Parallels tool, which does all the steps for you)
Hello, thank you for sharing your troubleshooting steps. Parallels Team.I did a clean installation (with secure boot) but not with the auto configuration from parallels (just did the whole windows setup process) and that was working. I first tried a new installation with the auto configuration from parallels, which didn't work for me.
Hello, we are happy that your issue has been resolved. Thanks, Parallels Team.@NoelS1 thank you! This helped. I can access now the settings and all other stuff as well!
What does it mean "the whole windows setup process? After choosing between productivity and games I only can continue and just select to customize the settings before installing. And during the installlation the BIOS window opens for enabling/disabling secure boot when enabling "Select boot device" in the VM settings.I did a clean installation (with secure boot) but not with the auto configuration from parallels (just did the whole windows setup process) and that was working. That was the case with me, but the next day the problem was back. I also reinstalled today and the problem comes back after every complete shutdown.Update: Since i reinstalled windows manually I'm working the whole day with parallels and everything is working fine. I think theres something wrong with the parallels auto settings and the new build from the microsoft developer preview. Hope Microsoft release the ARM version soon officially.
I also have the same problem, it is very worrying and will it mean that Windows 11 won't work on M1 for a while at least? I guess Parallels are going to have some serious problems if that is the case....
I have the same problem...I'm running Windows 11 ARM Insider Preview on my macOS Big Sur.
I'm using Parallels Desktop 17 for Mac on a Mac Big sur version 11.6 with M! processor and 16 GB RAM.
Upon installation Windows Updatevstartaed installing Insider Preview Build 22478.rs-prerelease.211008-1414. AFTER this update Windows started misbehaving. Example:
- Start menu opens but I can't open/start (can't open settings app)
- Windows Update menu doesn't exist under the Control Panel
- Windows Insider menu to login and link computer to doesn't exist
- File explorer takes time to open
Overall a very buggy experience.
I had Windows 10 before this on my Mac computer, it was slow, but functioned. This time, Windows 11, isn't useable.
I hope someone has a solution, an update or a workaround....?
You have to enable this during installation (see screenshot attached)@NoelS1 thank you! This helped. I can access now the settings and all other stuff as well!
