macOS Tahoe

Has anybody been so brave to upgrade and tried Parallels with it? Before even considering to try it out, I need to know that I can still run my virtual machines for Windows and Linux on the system using Parallels.
Obviously, as it was just announced, there is no official word from Parallels yet.

 

Well, no, I think on production Macs it's not brave but crazy to install Tahoe at this point. However, having said that, if you do not have spare Mac, you can install Tahoe in a VM using Parallels Desktop 20. Install Sequoia through Parallels by an adding a machine right in the control center; after the VM is ready, with Sequoia, login to iCloud on the VM (yes, that's supported in Sequoia now!). Once logged in with you Apple Developer Account, enable Beta updates for Tahoe, and just do the update. Done. For me it's working fine so far, Finder sometimes takes a break ;-) but not to the extent that I wouldn't recommend using it. Actually it is working nicely, and I have installed Xcode Beta 26 in order to be able to code along on WWDC. Clearly works fine so far, let's see what happens when using new technologies.

 

I have upgraded to MacOS Tahoe. Existing VM was working find but I see this when I try to install new VM. This is coming even though Mac is connected to internet. @Mikhail Ushakov Let me know if you need more details or debug logs. (need help in generating).

 

And here is the screenshot of ubuntu 25.04 running on Parallels in Tahoe, no issue with internet access.

 

Same issue here.
I was able to use VSCode to download the AI package (Ubuntu), but after the password change was unable to login to the new AI VM.
I'm thinking there is a system setting issue. I've allowed Parallels to have Full Disk access on the Mac - but that isn't solving the issue (even after a restart)

I did try and download Hasicorp Packer from their website, set my security to allow it to run, ran it - but it still doesn't seem to have installed and I also get this:

I am running Parallels Desktop Version 20.3.2 (55975) in MacOS 15.5 (24F74) on a MacBook Air M2 with 24 GB PM and lots of available disk space.
I have a fully working Windows 11 PRO virtual machine installed.
Now I joined the Apple developer program and downloaded the "UniversalMac_26.0_25A5279m_Restore.ipsw" and the Xcode-beta-26.app.
I have created a new macOS WM but when I start it, I get a prompt "A software update is required to install macOS in a virtual machine. Would you like to download and install this update now?"
when i click "Install" it starts to download but eventually ends with the error message "Installation failed. Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
What do I need to do to make it work?
PS. FYI I live in Sweden DS.

I am still getting the issue. I am NOT downloading and installing Xcode 26 on my host - is this the missing bit?

 

I have been running a virtual machine with Tahoe. However, when I try to upgrade to the beta 2, it doesn't "stick". Everything seems fine but it indicates that the update still needs to be performed. I have done this several times now with the same result. Any ideas of what I might do differently?

1 Sign-in to Apple Account doesn't work on Macs with Apple silicon chips
and the "workaround" is to report the issue to Apple.
It doesn't work on Macs with Intel chips either.
Since one can sign-in to their Apple Account using either a real Intel or Silicon-based Mac, but not a machine under Parallels -- how can this be an Apple issue?

 

Will the current Parallels desktop 20 version support Tahoe (running Windows VM through Parallels on macOS Tahoe) or will there be new Parallels desktop 21 version for that?

 

Do any of you by any chance run into the "This copy is not genuine" issue? License is bought from official site, already submitted a report, chatted with support, even with the steps provided by them the error still persist.

 

Same here. Something broke with Tahoe.
