I'm utterly baffled at the moment. I've been trying to setup a VM to run some older software and cannot get El Cap, Sierra or High Sierra to install. Parallels 15 identifies the installers and loads to the installation screen. I can run the utilities, but if I choose "Install OS X" and click continue nothing happens. Not even after several minutes. Is there a required setting I'm missing? This is on a new Mac Mini and I am installing onto an external drive rather than the system SSD. Thanks
Windows 10 installed perfectly on the same disk, updated and all. I tried increasing the size of the container for El Cap, thinking Parallels might not be creating a large enough VM. The increase didn't help at all. Still will not do anything when I click continue. Very frustrating.
Hi, not sure if this is the right place... but I'm having a similar issue. My OS is 10.12.6 Sierra (on a mid 2010 MacBook Pro). I've installed the trial of Parallels 15 (It installed windows 10VM successfully). I have the original discs for Snow Leopard Server 10.6.3. However the Parallells Installation Assistant doesn't recognize the disc automatically. Even opting to select the file manually doesn't work as the disc image is greyed out. If I choose to view 'all files' and then select the disc and choose to open it it says that it is 'Unable to detect Operating System'. I then made two disc images (one set at the default 'compressed' and another set as 'read only'. The read only copy was the same size as the original disc.) Trying to use either of the disk images gave the same result... it seems to be starting, and I get a grey screen with the apple logo and the ring of stripes which turns... but the then the apple logo turns to a grey 'No Entry' sign and thereafter nothing happens.
Thanks for reaching out. I did find time to chat with Parallels and they have someone looking into the issue. The specialist also could not get any of the Mac OS versions to install. For the record, we were using app as a source, but also tested a dmg I'd created for my own test.
Likewise Host is Mac OS 15.3, with latest version of Parallels. Install from a DMG, either basic on a Thumbdrive, or a DMG created by a SuperDuper disk image. Neither will run. The SuperDuper image installed, but won't run. The progress bar gets to about 50%, then errors out.
