Installed Parallels; now iMessage not working

I installed Parallels 13 on my MacBook Air (High Sierra). Parallels is working fine, but now iMessage doesn't work. It gives me a message, "There was a problem with Messages. You need to quit and open Messages again." Except that that doesn't do anything; the message appears again upon reopening it. I can't find any information anywhere about this problem.

Hello ParallelsU139, Imessage is a Mac application which in running in your Mac Side, I request you to go to Activity monitor and force quit the application and restart the Mac to check with it. If the issue still persists then kindly have a word with a Apple technician and check with the application.
