Problems with update ParallelsDesktop-4.0.3810.351321-Update2.1-en_US.tar.gz

Thanks, HJOrtmann, but I took the easier route suggested by Specimen, and downloaded the full installer. That took me to version 4.0.3810, which I assume is the latest and greatest, and it seems to be working all right.

Hasn't asked me to re-install Parallels Tools, though, which previous updates have done.

Also the download put two distinct .dmgs on my desktop, as well as other junk (one from an older version, I think). Why is that?

It doesn't ask to reinstall Parallels Tools but I actually did and reached the conclusion the drivers it installs display themselves as a more recent version than before, with the oddity that, while installing these new drivers, the installation stalls because a window pops under asking about replacing a file that in the disk is newer but in the updated drivers is older, strange...

Clearly the Parallels folks have some trouble building updaters and installers that work the way they're supposed to. . .

Ironically, one of the things this update is suppose to fix is the Updater itself. :P

well, doing things manually at least in this case solved the initial problem - of course I can't guarantee this for the future ;)
