    Hello rob,

I've looked at the report.. Unfortunately it seems to be some Microsoft Problem - in the tools installation log
and so far the only workaround known is to rollback the system to some restore-point, like it described in for example in page
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

That won't work as the restore points now do not go far enough back. How do i restore to an earlier version of Parallels?

It is strange, since I thought there should be a restore-point just before the first tools installation..

I think that the best way to go is contact either Parallels or Microsoft Support

The instructions to try are quite complicated:

Click the VM->Configure->Hardware->CDRo and choose as image the file /Library/Parallels/Tools/tools-win.iso

go to the DeviceManager (afair right-click My Computer -> Manage -> DeviceManager), find the "Ethernet Controller" device (with ! sign) - it should be in either "Network Adapters" or "Other Devics" section, double click on it and choose "Update/Install/Reinstall Driver". Then choose "Browse my computer for the driver software" and choose d:\drivers\prl_eth5

Let me know any errors after this step.

If step completes with success, then try to install Parallels Tools again
