Right, you have the old version on another computer, dump the new SP2 onto the other computer and slipstream it over...

Thanks for all your help Eru Ithildur. But, I'm afraid that what I have is a bootleg copy of Windows XP. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy my own version of Vista.

    Thanks, everbody, for your suggestions.

Or you can get OEM off the net for ~$80.

    Check out PriceGrabber.com

I had exactly the same problem with the latest build.

I downgraded to build 1970 available here...

Successfully installed SP2 and then upgraded Parallels.

This seems like a major bug as there must be quite a few people that bought XP long before SP2 was released.

Thanks, again, Eru Ithildur. I just ordered an OEM version of Windows XP. I hope that works.

Thanks, Zeman. The evil spirit of Bill Gates still haunts me. I did as you suggested but when I tried to install the 1970 Build of Parallels I got a window saying that there is nothing to install. I tried several times and downloaded the application several times, all with the same results. I am purchasing a new version of Windows XP. If that doesn't work, I will take it as a sign fro Bill Gates that he doesn't want me to run his damned Windows on my Mac.
