    Running:
Macbook Pro Retina, with Parallels 8, and Windows 7.

I was having great challenges installing any additional software via the Apple USB SuperDrive. Within windows, I could browse files within the DVD, but trying to install Windows Office would encounter errors on the setup exe file. Similarly, trying to install Adobe CS5 would get part of the way through the installation process, but then encounter errors after inputting the relevant (and valid) licence codes.

Various searches brought back no valid results, and specialists had challenges too.. but the solution was finally found, and very simple! ...

Within the configuration of the virtual machine, with the superdrive connected (and browsable), the check-box saying 'connected' for the DVD drive wasn't checked automatically!
So ticking the box manually, with the Superdrive selected from the drop down list, enabled everything to work fine at last!

On a separate point, I do a lot of web coding with Dreamweaver.. Trying to edit website preferences within Dreamweaver CS5 proved impossible. I could view the opening page of the options, and click save or cancel, but couldn't click into any of the editable fields, neither could I make variations to the server configuration options on the left side (it was as if the options weren't clickable).
Changing the Parallels configuration for the Windows screen resolution, from 'best for retina' to 'full screen' (ie tiny text) enabled me to use all of the menu options!

I hope that's useful to someone else trying to resolve the same issues.

So far I have not used Dreamweaver under Parallels although I have installed it. However, I am unable to get it to connect to my server. I use the same setup that I use for this server running Dreamweaver on my Windows 7 desktop, but it appears to connect and just as quickly disconnect. Did you encounter this problem?
