I have just downloaded a trial version of Parallels 11 with the hope of running Snow Leopard in support of an old Appleworks database. Is it correct that Parallels only allows Snow Leopard Server to run virtually or am I missing something?
That's right. Apple won't allow the regular Snow Leopard to be used as a VM, but Snow Leopard Server works fine with parallels 10. I use it to continue running a pile of Power PC legacy apps. Having upgraded to parallels 11 there is an issue with file sharing, but I expect that will be sorted soon.
Hi RandyB2, yes, Parallels Desktop 11 does support Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server as a guest operating system and it doesn't support Snow leopard OS X. Please check out the system requirements for Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac. You may also check out Parallels Desktop and Mac OS (Host) compatibility in this article.
