Just got a new macbook, 3.0ghz, 16gb ram. I have 2 programs that run on windows so I'm looking at Parallels vs. bootcamp. From what I gather, parallels is going to use more memory, but it's easier to use. My question is: Is it always on? I accept that trying to run 2 things at a time use up some juice, so to speak, but since i only have 2 programs, and use them sparingly, can i "turn off" parallels and get my native macbook performance? Or maybe it's not as big a deal as I'm reading on other sites. Thanks a ton for the input. Josh
No, it's not always on, you can start it just to launch the virtual machine, and then shut the VM down and quit Parallels, and get your resources back.
