The next Parallels update must resolve memory allocation problems; it also allows to allocate up to 2 GB of memory to each VM. If you do not want to wait for release you can try latest RC build right now. Anyway, report about you experience with new builds in this thread please, your feedback is important to us.

Why I Want to Jack Up the Memory

    I'm assuming two things:

    1. Your name is Jackie, like my uncle.
    2. You're 16 years older than I am.

I want more memory because I've been assuming that Windows Vista Ultimate OS has been running so slowly because it wants more memory. I recall how memory-hungry Windows 95 was compared to v3.1 when it came out in 1995, and how bloody slow it was compared to the older 3.1 (or 3.2?). I never really got into Windows and don't know what to expect from it or how to work it.

Now, this is a dual-dual core Intel machine running at 2.3.3 GHz. I can't operate the Windows Vista Ulitimate and Mac OS at the same time. The Mac OS just crawls. The first thing I always suspect in a case like this is RAM.

I'm no technowizard, folks. "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a hacker!"

I don't know what makes Windows and Microsoft operating systems happy.

So, the first thing I'll offer up unto it is more memory.
Then, I'll offer unto it more CPU.

In the final analysis, I end up giving MicroSoft more money.

All I wanna know is if I ought to be using Boot Camp and if I ought to advise the other thirty or so MD's in the area buying group to go Boot Camp as well.

Please try latest build 5160 - you will be able to allocate up to 2G there. And many problems with supporting hosts with huge amount of RAM (up to 16G) are also fixed.

    Hi,
this issue seems to have been solved.
I am running eyeTV and can launch parallels with 2048 GB of ram. It seems to work quite good. I will sned an update on the status in a week!
