My macpro 3Ghz still hangs after working for about 15 minutes with a Windows XP VM. I have 2GB Ram and 2 HD's of 512GB in Mirrored raid.

 

Still can't use ActiveSync to sync with T-Mobile running WM

Running 1918 on MacPro with 2GB, ActiveSync in a XP VM - looks like it attempts to connect (i.e. it catches the USB event) but fails to SYNC. Any logs I should be looking for?

Appears to work wonderfully on my machine. I was able to install Windows XP without a hitch, and have started testing websites on Internet Explorer 6 and 7. I get the "put your computer to sleep" message every once and a while, though. Great job, guys.

 

Oh I forgot. I do have a problem with ClearType working in Windows XP, but I'm sure the focus is just getting Parallels to work on the Mac Pro... and again great job.

 

Are those new builds (1910, 1918) ONLY for the mac pro and core 2 duo systems. The reason I ask is because the only build that works well for me on my 20" imac core duo is build 1908. Everytime I upgrade to one of the latest builds, the application will run, it will take me to the windows xp desktop and as soon as that happens, the entire application would just shut down. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh build, but the same thing happens all the time. Does it have to do with the RAM allocation or it is the processor am using?
I have 2GB of RAM but only set XP PRO to use 256MB.

Does anyone have an idea of what is causing the random shut-down?

 

Could you try to create new VM configuration with 1918 please and attach your old HDD to it? Will it work?

So far, this build seems to fix the previous freeze I have experienced. I have disabled a few things wiith build 1910 to make it more predictable. But I think 1918 has nailed it. No need to sleep to get vt-x support...Kool! Everytime I rebooted, it seems to work fine. Nice job!! I am getting my credit card ready

Working OK for me using an XP SP2 VM and SUSE 10.1 VM.

I did get the warning and have to sleep to get VT-x working. Also, starting the XP VM turned up my system sound to max (on the OS X side), as others noted. The SUSE VM didn't seem to do this, but I didn't quit and restart Parallels or my machine between trying the two VMs.

Edit: I removed the boot-args for the 2GB limit (I only have 2 GB anyway), which also removes the "-legacy" flag (32bit mode?). I no longer seem to get the VT-x sleep warning.

All I did was click the VM menu - it stayed open, even though I didn't choose anything, and moved off. The Mac was unreponsive for a few moments, then Parallels quit, generating the error report. I had accessed the VM menu several times previously with no problem. i do have the rest of the report if required.

Installed Build 1918. I am only having one problem so far. The windows XP virtual disk C: is not expanding. I created my vitual machine with default settings (8GB HDD). I am trying to move files from old computer but low disk notice came on and copy stopped. I ran ImageTool.app to increase disk size. In the Property Page View it says the drive is now 50000MB but I still shows only 7.99GB using Windows explorer. I re-ran ImageTool to convert disk to fixed size. Property View shows 50000MB but windows still thinks the drive only has 7.99GB and won't let me write any more files.

Any suggestions?

I attempted to get build 1918 to boot the .iso for Vista build 5728 (public Vista build mentioned here: http://tech.cybernetnews.com/2006/09/22/limited-time-only-vista-5728-available-to-the-public/ but it gives the error Status: 0xc0000225 Info: Windows failed to load because the firmware (BIOS) is not ACPI compatible. Any ideas?

Are you sure you chosen Vista OS type in your VM configuration?

 

crash after windows logon

I kept using 1908 since the 1910 was crashing me after windows logon, but i though i'll giv a try to this 1918.

well, no luck.

after i logged in to windows in 1-2 secs the whole parallels just quit. without warnings or anything. i have some crash logs. i'll try to attach it to the post, or post it on my site.

he console log usually writes that

but sometime it writes an additional line, complaining that a pointer was freed twice, so someone has a potential malloc bug.

i did not want to go back to 1908 so i started investigating.

after the latest crash, i've created a new VM with my previous HDD, but i've added only the disk drive.

it booted successfully, so i started adding back the hardware. when i added the soundcard, after logging in, poof!, parallels crashed.

i suspect windows tried to play the login wav, but parallels doesn't like the tune. ;]

my mac is a standard 2.66 mac pro, 2G of ram, nvidia 7300, nothing special.

the VM is a windows 2003 with 832MB memory, but without parallels tools. befeore upgrading to the latest build i unnstall the tools. (i'll try maybe it doesn't crash with the tools installed.)
