I just downloaded parallells and like it for the most part but am having a few issues. I am using windows xp as my guest OS on my intel-based mac. First, when completely quiting out of parallels, is it ok to always suspend? When I power off I sometimes lose changes that I have made in wondows. Second, I downloaded the parallel tools and went into full-screen mode, but when I try to come back to a smaller console window view, the window is way too large. Is there any way to fix this and make the window smaller? (sorry, I did post this in another thread before realizing this is probably where my question should be located)
1. You can both shutdown XP (start->shut down) or suspend VM. Power off running VM is not safe way to finish work. 2. This is probably bug and we already fixed something very close to your description after RC2.
I have the same problem when coming out of the full-screen mode, I can't access the XP-start -shutdown button because part of the window is hiding. You mean this problem will be fixed in the next version?
I've experimented with this problem a bit, and I could reproduce exactly what they were talking about. But it all seems to solve itself by using the following preferences in Parallels: Preferences: User Interface. Under 'Fullscreen options' I selected 'Allow to change guest...' and de-selected 'Allow to change Mac...' After this the screen resized properly when going from console view to fullscreen, and back again.
I tried the preferences change shown above, and the console view is still way too large. With the parallels console view being so large, I cannot reach the bottom of the console window to try to resize it (because it is off the screen). Any ideas? Running parallels RC2 on a MacBook Pro. Thanks.
Okay, figured out the answer to my own question. In addition to configuring the Parallels preferences like Jerry said, you need to resize the windows display resolution. Right click anywhere on the windows screen, select properties. (to get the display properties window) Then select the Settings tab, move the screen resolution bar all the way to the left (or pick whatever resolution makes you happy). Then click Apply and answer yes when you like the results.
