Canon printer not recognized

Is anyone else having an issue with Parallels Beta6 and a Canon printer? I have a MP750 that has worked fine on Virtual PC running on my G5 -- even through Keyspan's USB server. But with Parallels and Windows 2000 (the same OS I used on my G5), the printer appears as an unknown USB device. I've tried it directly and with Keyspan's USB server. I've uninstalled all drivers, and retried the installation, and still no success. Any thoughts?

Ive not tried this, but why not connect to the printer via the network, instead of trying to go via USB? That is, the printer (I assume) is already up and running on your Mac OS X. If so, then you shold be able to treat it from PW as a networked printer and connect to it using normal WIndows network printer stuff. You'll just need to manually install the driver and point it at the networked printer.

That's a good idea Tim, except it takes me back to last year when I first switched our office from PCs to Macs. I discovered Canon does not support open source network drivers, and because networked printing on a Mac relies on Unix and CUPS, these paticular models don't have the necessary Unix CUPS drivers included in the Mac OS to allow them to be easily shared on a network. (Canon is one of the only brands that has this issue ... it seems every Epson and most HPs are supported.)

That's why I purchased Keyspan's USB printer server -- it works great with our mix of Macs and PCs, and even does the job in Virtual PC. However the printers appear to the O/S to be actually connected via USB, even though they are networked. I think it's just a matter of a few more weeks and Parallels will have the USB issues sorted out. I tried connecting the printer directly to my Mac, and had the same issue, so it's obviously a problem in Parallels and not with my other associated hardware.

I dont know if this helps i can reach my i950 when running Workstation through my mac , through wireless network and trough pc to which printer is connected, with no probs. Its an all pc network except my mac running on airport and linksys and iam able to see printer and other machines (4) al the time . Even itunes on pc running parallels on my macbook is able to stream to my stereo !!
Standard setup all the way, and 128 bit encryption, remember the dollar sign.
