Okay so I'm not prepared to shell out for a newer Windows OS, but 98 does all I need it to. My problem: used Parallels to create a second hdd (on which to instal contents of a CD dictionary to save me having to load the CD into the CD-ROM drive). It is visible in the Paralllels Desktop and, when I've booted 98 and logged on, in the bottom "menu" bar displaying all system resources. But when I open "my computer" there is only drive C (1st HDD) and D (CD-ROM). I'm aware that later Windows OS have some kind of disk manager (but not in 98). How do I get access to my 2nd HDD? Many thanks
You have two issues here. One way to solve your problem is to make an iso image of the CD and attach it to the emulated CD drive. Then it's always there unless you need the CD drive for something else. If you want another disk on your VM, and don't want to simply copy the files from the CD into a directory on your C drive and point the app there, just create the hdd file, attach it to your VM and FDISK it to put a partition on it. Win2k and above have a GUI disk manager. Earlier systems have to make do with a command prompt (FDISK).
