It hasn't really gotten off track. What you describe is exactly the same as what I have experienced. The only solution I am aware of is to install Parallels 4 as a different user with admin privileges. I have now had to do this 4-5 times as the solution doesn't seem to stick indefinitely...

There is no error message. The Parallels window gets stuck with the Resuming progress bar at about 50% and it never goes beyond that. I even left it overnight. The VM was not suspended as another user.

Running PD 4.0.3540 and I can never successfully resume XP after the VM is suspended. Host is Mac OS 10.5.5 running on a MacBook Pro 17", dual 2.6 ghz w 4 GB RAM. Any ideas how to resolve this?

asilver, I waited until I logged in as myself until I ran the vm. I did not run the vm at all in the new user account, just installed Parallels. I did not have to reinstall Parallels Tools as they were already installed in the VM.

Peter, the Guest VM is your Virtual Machine. The Host is Mac OS and the Guest is the Virtual Machine...in this case Windows XP. In what I describe, there is no cpu usage in Windows, but 100% cpu usage in Mac OS.

This might decrease cpu usage for prl_vm_app, but not for the Parallels Desktop process in my case. Again, if I merely open the guest window with the guest OFF the cpu usage is instantly 100%.
