    Launch VM from Desktop icon?

YanaYana, that is what I have been doing all along! Anyway two days after my previous post it stopped doing it again, and has been OK since. As before I can see no reason why it comes and goes like this.

    Launch VM from Desktop icon?

Just started happening again, out of the blue after ten days of opening directly. No associated change. Yes same error when double clicking on the VM in documents folder

    Launch VM from Desktop icon?

I don't know what is happening, but the alias on the desktop is now working fine. Not aware of changing anything that could have affected this.

    Launch VM from Desktop icon?

Thanks for replying, but both these options just result in the message that the VM is already registered and can't reregistered twice (as in first post), with no option to proceed. Do they work for you?

    Launch VM from Desktop icon?

I thought this was a really simple question! Let me rephrase it: Is it possible to have an icon on the desktop for each of my VMs (Win 7 and XP) such that I click on the icon and the VM starts up immediately? Thanks

    Launch VM from Desktop icon?

I deleted the desktop icon put there during install, but would like it back. I thought I could create an alias to the actual VM, and put it on the desktop, but when I do this and double click on the icon, I get a message that the VM is already registered. No problem with the VM launching...

"No boot device" error after transporting Bootcamp

Still mulling over whether to do this import option. One or two questions please....the link implies that after importing you can test the new imported VM and either delete it or delete the Bootcamp partition. Is it actually an option to continue with both indefinitely? I realise it...

"No boot device" error after transporting Bootcamp

Apologies for that. When I tried a few years ago I read the manuals very carefully (at least the Transporter ones), but confess I haven't read the version 7 at all, and missed any info about when it was introduced. Thanks for the link.

"No boot device" error after transporting Bootcamp

It certainly does...seems a bit too good to be true. Why isn't this completely different and much simpler method in the manual (perhaps it is?) I have tried the Transporter Agent in the past and failed. Now I want to do the same again....that is import my BC Windows 7 into a new VM, then...

Newbie- not sure whether Windows 7 installed

It sounds like XP installed in a VM, but has problems, and that Windows 7 never installed. It is very difficult to know what is wrong, but I would advise deleting your VMs, uninstalling Parallels and starting completely over. Make sure you are using the latest version of Parallels. Just...

Newbie- not sure whether Windows 7 installed

Not quite clear what the state of your machine is, but to answer a few basics: After installing Windows via Parallels Desktop you do not need to have the disk in the machine. The installation process put all the Windows stuff in a Virtual Machine, which is just a large file in your mac which...

Convert Win 7 Bootcamp install to VM?

Yes, it all worked! Can't remember much detail now, but p32 of the Transporter Manual was the key.

Convert Win 7 Bootcamp install to VM?

OOOPS! ........RTFM It's all on page 32 of the Parallels Transporter Manual. Happening as I type. Pretty easy to do but don't know if it works yet!

Convert Win 7 Bootcamp install to VM?

Thanks I understand that option and it's advantages. I want to save the space on my laptop internal drive by having a small parallels VM, and deleting the Bootcamp partition. I have seen two references to people who have achieved it with Transporter, although everything else about...

Convert Win 7 Bootcamp install to VM?

Hoping for an answer to this as well please. Tried Transporter, but none of the options are applicable.

Windows 7 license need Ultimate or Pro for Parallels like Vista did?

I seem to remember when Vista was released the license only allowed use in a virtual machine for Ultimate or Pro versions? Anyone know if the same is true for Windows 7? Thanks

No audio device installed under Windows 7 RC

Here is the thread I mentioned previously about the same problem in build 7000. Read the whole thread as the fix was in two parts...the driver and then selecting the digital output device. The fixes for 7000 worked for 7100 for me. Note that in build 7000 the sound problem only applied to the...

No audio device installed under Windows 7 RC

There was a long thread about this when the beta came out. I had the problem then, and the fix (in the thread) was the same for the RC release last week...for me.

Windows 7, mouse trapped in VM window

Problem Solved I uninstalled Parallels tools then reinstalled them, and all was well. Previously I had simply run the Parallels tools installer again, without uninstalling first. Mike
