    Anybody use rtl8187?

The problem is I don't know when the device will disconnect. Can you connect to a network and disconnect the device to see if the problem can at least be reproduced?

    Anybody use rtl8187?

This bug has nothing to do with monitor mode. The freeze occurs when the driver is in MANAGED mode and the device is unplugged. I have duplicated the bug using Xubuntu. I connect to a network (WEP in this case), unplug the device, and the OS freezes.

    Anybody use rtl8187?

I have a frustrating problem where unplugging a rtl8187 device while in managed mode causes the OS to freeze over 50% of the time. Affects 6.x and 7.x

If anyone is using the rtl8187 driver, please let me know. I find this driver to freeze up the OS when in managed mode and the adapter is unplugged.

kubuntu & coherence, menu icon missing?

OK, I'm getting the same behavior with Windows7. Perhaps I ought to repost this on the windows forum.

kubuntu & coherence, menu icon missing?

On a lark, I tried coherence in kubuntu. It works great, but the Parallels menu bar icon doesn't display. I haven't tested if this is the case in Windows 7 yet. Has anyone else observed this odd behavior? This isn't a big issue; I usually only have a couple sessions open in konsole.

    Linux 2.6.38 + PD6.0.12090.66072 + USB unplug often = VM freeze

I'm experiencing frequent freezes of the host Linux OS (not the Parallels app, apparently) using Parallels 6.0.12090 rev. 660720. It seems to be related to unplugging the USB wifi adapter. It doesn't happen every time, but often, and it *seems* to occur only when the mini-USB end is unplugged...

    2.6.38 freezes often—anyone else?

When I unplug my wifi adapter it often freezes the VM. PD6 doesn't freeze, but Linux does, and this wasn't a problem with prior versions. It seems to be a problem more when the mini-USB end is unplugged, not the regular USB-A plug.

Ubuntu 11.04 support for Parallels Tools

TJPile, what kernel are you running (uname -a)? I've had nothing but problems trying to get PD tools to compile for 2.6.38

Direct socket between Linux and Mac possible?

It would be nice to create a UNIX socket between both UNIX environments. This could improve performance for things like X sessions which currently have a tcp/ip/eth overhead. I've experimented with using a serial socket device. I found out the named sockets are created in...

Tools for BackTrack5 release next week

You can also run gnome-panel in XQuartz, which is better than X in PD due to the lack of PD tools. I can copy and paste in gnome-terminal quite easily, even setting command-v (meta-v) as paste. This makes using BT5 a lot more tolerable until the tools are updated.

BTW I just tried the GNOME version and X works. Of course, the tools still don't compile, but it's at least more usable than the KDE front-end.

Tools for BackTrack5 release next week

I got BT5 to install. The process is fairly obvious, except the tools which are just a pain in the ass and I'm not going to even touch until someone says Ubuntu 11.04 or Suse 11.4 works. I mean hell, I don't think the build directory parallels Tools expects exists without building the kernel...

Tools for BackTrack5 release next week

By the way, you can use XQuartz as your KDE front-end if you: 1) Turn on "Allow Connections from Network Clients" 2) run xhost +<your_PD_ip> on the Mac-side 3) export DISPLAY=<your_Mac_ip>:0 then launch kde with something like start_kdeinit --new-startup +kcminit_startup One problem...

Tools for BackTrack5 release next week

I'm still using BT4 with 2.6.34. It's my primary use of DP. Maybe I'd be better off with VirtualBox? I'm downloading BT5 KDE 64bit and will report if I get anywhere. Also, anyone try fluxbox?

How do I prevent Windows launch?

I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I've searched the forums to no avail. I like using Crystal mode (PD6), but I don't use Windows all the time and it's severely annoying when it's launched against my will. This happens when, for example most recently, Safari downloads a wmv...

Crucial v5 feature missing in v6? (Show in System Preferences)

editing the system prefs seems to have worked for now. Unfortunately, the latest DP6 and tools makes Linux freeze every 30m. I've reverted to an old version of tools which I hope will fix that problem. PD6 complains that tools is now out of date, but at least it isn't freezing up (kernel 2.6.34)

Crucial v5 feature missing in v6? (Show in System Preferences)

Well, duh. The problem is it removed the application from the NON-root volume. I fully expect it to replace the app on my root volume, but not every single volume I happen to have mounted!
