You might want to ask your network admins when you are trying to log-in as to what is timing out, or check your logs. I don't do much with Cisco...

That is normal, BootCamp windows cannot detect OS X. As to Parallels not allowing you to select the box, do you have an existing BootCamp install.
As Xenos said to Tmp0404, it probably has something to do with your network, I have zero issues mounting the .dmgs.
Have you tried their customer support line?

It sounds like your Compaq disk has some things specific to their hardware configuration, it is probably the problem.
Do you know shell scripting? If you know how to poke around type in 'man ln' and it should go over the types of linking. Syntax for a symlink...
