You can attach USB (or wireless w/ USB dongle) mice directly to VM via Devices > USB menu and install accompanying software.
I'm sorry, there's currently no way to disable USB mouse/trackball autodetection. I've forwarded your case to appropriate person for consideration.
This mike has a trackball, so PD8 automatically switches mouse mode to allow trackball to control the pointer.
