    Windows Update = Black Screen

    If Windows VM is Boot Camp VM, you can upgrade it as is, while in Mac OS If it is Boot Camp you need to upgrade to SP3 while in Boot Camp

    Installing XP on existing unpartitioned drive.

    It is not necessary to use Boot Camp, you can just install it on mac side as Virtual Hard disk (file), from Mac OS side it will be as ordinary files

    Probably some files are open on Mac OS side from that drive? Use lsof |grep DISK-NAME to check
