i noticed that just before i updated. you should update to 3186 and retest as this has superceeded 3170 now.
1 - only one operating can see the cd drive at any one time.. to give osx control back use the Disconnect option under CD/DVD in the Devices menu....

you dont have the WMI service stopped by any chance ? I used the Mac drivers from bootcamp and it works first time.
are there really that many show stoppers or are most of them now just annoyances.
i believe its kinda hit or miss and definitely not supported.
does your 2840 not have the network module in it :( damn.. have you tried sharing the printer in osx and mapping it within windows ?
where are your VMs located ? in a shared folder or in the home dir of the user you installed Parallels with ?
the 2840 is network enabled right ? setup it up on the lan, then print to it using tcp/ip printing in windows.
are you sending the mails that are being replied to, in HTML ? Do you use Word as your email editor? Sounds like a fairly common issue. Work...
so you have your vm to auto start ? open the ~/Library/Parallels/whatever/whatever.pvs file in a text editor and changing the following lines...
