hi, I am using Parallels 6 with Windows XP. and I can type the @-char. just by pressing Shift + 2 just as within OS X
I'va had the same problem. issue a ticket with the help-desk and they will tell you how to remove Parallels completely and re-install it.
no, you don't have to repartition or reformat yr hard drive. Parallels is a virtual system, which will be stored in files on yr OS X system.
