Using Parallels Desktop in additional Mac user account.

I installed a Windows game in Windows XP under PD 4.0. I installed this game for my son, who has his own account on my iMac. After installation, which I did in my OS X account, because I am the system administrator, I opened his account and dragged the PD icon onto the dock so he can start...

I cannot run The Sims, Deluxe Edition

I just installed The Sims, Deluxe Edition in PD 4.0, Build 4.0.3810. Every time I try to run it, whether in 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 resolution, my Windows XP virtual machine crashes. The only thing that keeps working is my mouse which I can move around. Nothing else works, and I have to...

My Windows virtual disk no longer mounts on my Mac OS X desktop

I have a feeling that this does in fact make the difference. I chose not to use Bootcamp, because I want the ability to drag and drop files between the two OS's. When you are running Windows in Bootcamp, OS X is not running. And when you are booting into OS X, Windows is not running, so...

My Windows virtual disk no longer mounts on my Mac OS X desktop

I think I may have found the solution. The solution is in the Finder. Click on Preferences/General. Check connected servers. In my case, that puts the Windows virtual disk back on the desktop.

My Windows virtual disk no longer mounts on my Mac OS X desktop

After starting Windows in Parallels 4.0, the virtual Windows hard drive would mount on my Mac OS X desktop. This is no longer the case. I am running Build 4.0.3810. Even though I have checked "Mount virtual disks to Mac OS X desktop" under Shared Folders of the Configuration panel the...

Where is Parallels Tools in Version 4.0?

That did the trick. Thank you! In PD 3.0 I could in fact disable mouse synchronization without exiting the VM. In PD 4.0 this seems no longer possible. I do not understand the steps you describe here. These steps for the Windows Control Panel settings are for display issues, not mouse...

Where is Parallels Tools in Version 4.0?

I have that folder also, however, there is no executable Parallels Tools program in that folder. The only executable application I have in that folder is "Parallels Tools Installation Agent" (PTIAgent.exe). That program runs the installation program for Parallels Tools. I have run that...

Where is Parallels Tools in Version 4.0?

I need to disable my mouse synchronization in PD 4.0, which worked just fine in PD 3.0. Even though I installed Parallels Tools in version 4.0, I cannot find it anywhere, and the tech support people in India I have been talking to, all have no clue what i am talking about. They are so...

    Mouse has become erratic.

I would like to add something. When I enable Mouse synchronization again, (which is not an option, if I want to use trueSpace), the mouse continues to behave in a wrong way. Even though I now have one mouse, inside the VM, the pointer changes back and forth from a white Windows XP mouse to a...

    Mouse has become erratic.

Suddenly, since yesterday for no apparent reason, my mouse behavior has become totally erratic. Is suddenly that I have TWO mouse pointers. For the program I use I have to disable mouse synchronization in Parallels tools. (with which I am also having serious problems btw). After I do that...

Parallels Tools never available in Taskbar System tray.

Whenever I start Parallels Desktop, the Parallels Tools icon is never visible in the system tray of the Taskbar. When I say never I really mean never. Every time I start my VM, Parallels tools is not available to be used. And in Taskbar properties, I have set the properties for PT from...

I can not map a network drive.

Xenos, with all due respect, you are not reading my posts very carefully. From my very first post I have mentioned the OSX public folders as folders I could access from my application. And I said so again in my post of 9:29 this morning. This is what I wrote: "Again, please remember, that I...

I can not map a network drive.

It seems that you don't get what I want to do. And you are ignoring the facts that I mentioned about the two public folders that I can use with trueSpace. Because I CAN open files through my network in trueSpace, just not ANY file in ANY the PD Shared Folder!

I can not map a network drive.

That is not true, because I can see and access the following two folders on the network. They are network places on my "Local Network" under My Network Placesin Windows! They are Abrasha's public folder, and Ruben's public folder, which each hold their respective dropbox. The folders are...

I can not map a network drive.

I still think this has something to do with how Windows XP sees my shared folders on the Mac. As I mentioned before, in My Network Places, under Local Network, I can see the two Public Folders on my Mac, i.e. Abrasha's public folder, and Ruben's public folder. Please note, that these two...

I can not map a network drive.

As I wrote before. I can find the folders in question in Explorer and I can browse to the folders. I can drag and drop files to and from the folders. All I have to do, is double click the Parallels Shared Folders shortcut on my XP desktop, and I'm there. Or I can open my computer, and map a...

I can not map a network drive.

When I uncheck, "All Mac disks" and "Home folder", I still get the same results. It makes no difference. Under "My Computer", I can create a network drive called "Abrasha's projects on '.psf' (Z:)" (or whatever drive letter I want to choose) However, when I go to "My Network Places" , I...

I can not map a network drive.

I had already done all of that. I have two shared folders. One is called "Abrasha's projects", the second one "Quickbooks Backup". I do not see these folders under C: in Explorer. Only the Quickbooks Backup folders shows up in Explorer under My Computer under Network Drives, but for some...

I can not map a network drive.

The thread was moved from "User Solutions and Workarounds" by Xenos I have been braking my head over this one for several hours now, I am ready to throw in the towel. I am running Windows XP Home as my VM. I want to be able to open files from a certain folder and/or sub folders in the...

My computer has been behaving erratically since installing Parallels Desktop

Hi Alicia, Thank you for your quick response and email. I have downloaded Build 5582. Should I now uninstall Build 5160 first and then install the new build, or should I just install the new build over the old one?
