    Hi,

So I am looking at getting a new Mac book pro... currently I have a 2019 intel based MBP16" and run my Parallels Windows 11 VM as I do all my work in Visual Studio 26 developing app for business that all use windows PC on Intel CPUs...

On testing on a Apple Silicon M2 device I am able to run a windows 11 PC with Visual studio and all is fine.. I can't run SQL Server unless it's the latest 2025 release but I can kinda live with that... not great but I can use Azure SQL.

But I have just read that Golden Gate will not support Intel CPUs which is fine as I am able to most things on the M2.. but it also says that it will be dropping Rosetta as well which is how Macs can run x86/intel apps...

So if thats the case how will this impact my Parallels VM on a M2 CPU running Visual studio..... I am very confused.. Will this kill my ability to run visual studio and compile my code on a Golden Gate Mac M5 which targets x86 PCs ....

I don't think you will have any issues with that since on an Apple Silicon machine you end up installing an ARM version of Windows 11 and also the new Visual Studio 2026 and SSMS 22 are ARM and very stable. I compile to x64 .exe and .msix in my VM of Windows 11 ARM on a MacBook Pro M3 for months now with no issues, and Windows has its own translation layer for x64 so I dont think the missing rosetta is going to be an issue..
