Triple Boot Vista Problem (There is no operating system installed in the virtual mach

I, like many of you, have followed the instructions here

and in other places to try and achieve a Mac that can boot into Mac OS X 10.4.10, Vista and Ubuntu Fiesty 7.04 both natively and in Parallels, but I keep running into the same problem where Parallels refuses to boot Vista with the following error.

There is no operating system installed in the virtual machine.


Here is a quick précis of what happens when you follow the instructions.

First create the two partitions you need

sudo diskutil resizeVolume disk0s2 172.6G "Linux" "Ubuntu" 30G "MS-DOS FAT32" "Vista" 30G

Then install rEDIt

Boot from the Vista Ultimate CD and install into slice 4. Everything goes well and I can dual boot natively.

Boot back into Mac OS and create the Virtual Machine. It will fail to boot with the above message but once you edit the .pvs file and change "Boot Camp" to "Boot Camp;disk0s4" I can now boot Vista and let the Parellels tools install. A few reboots shows I have a well functioning Dual boot system that works with Parallels.

Now boot from the Ubuntu CD and using the text install I can install Ubuntu, taking care to install Grub in /dev/sda3 not the MBR. All goes well and I can boot into all three operating system with rEDIt.

Boot back to Mac OS X and the Vista virtual machine now refuses to start with the error message.

"There is no operating system installed in the virtual machine"

It worked before the Linux install, it still works if I boot natively.

Has anyone got this working?
 
It seems to not be a problem if I boot into Windows from rEDIt before then booting to Mac OS X and trying Parallels. That seems to fix it for me at the moment. I only have a problem if I boot Ubuntu from rEFIt then boot Mac OS X and try and start my Vista virtual machine.
 
I have been experiencing this issue as well, with Windows XP and both Ubuntu Feisty and Ubuntu Gutsy. Has anyone discovered a solution for this error?
