Windows Modern Apps won't load following Windows 8.1 Update installation

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 Update. Now when I try to open a Windows Modern/Metro/Store app, the splash screen appears and then the app just disappears. I can see that it is still active on the Windows Taskbar, but can't see the app itself. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello msa1912,

Please shutdown the Virtual Machine ( Do not close Parallels Desktop window )

Go to VM Config ( http://kb.parallels.com/117287 ) -> Hardware -> Video -> change the 3D acceleration to : DirectX9

Restart the Virtual Machine and check how it goes !

Hi Maheesh, that unfortunately did not work. I switched to DirectX9 but still have the same problem. Any other suggestions? thanks,
