Cannot install Parallels 7 in OSX 10.8.4

I just finally got around to installing a copy of Parallels 7 that i got awhile back and I can't seem to get it installed to version current enough to work.

The version on the DVD installed fine, but when I run it, it comes up with the error "You can't use this version of the application "Parallels Desktop.app" with this version of OS X."

So I went and found several updates to download from the Parallels website (including the one that the installer downloads). When I try to install any of those, it gets to the last step where it actually trys to start installing, it fails, saying "The installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for further assistance"

Any tips would be very greatly appreciated.

Download the latest version of PDM7 from the site, uninstall* the current version, and install it from the downloaded .dmg.

*To uninstall PDM7 you run the uninstaller from the PDM7 .dmg

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it did not help. The installer still stops right after it starts writing files.
 
Two things that you could try:

1.) Get the free application EasyFind (https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11076/easyfind), search for the term parallels with the settings "Files & Folders", "Any Word", "Ignore Case", "Invisible Files & Folders" and delete everything except for the dmg file with the latest Parallels 7 installer. Most files and folders can be deleted directly from EasyFind, in some cases you have to go to the respective folder (Command + R) and delete then and provide your password. Then restart the computer, reinstall Parallels 7 and see whether it now works.

2.) Create a new user and install Parallels 7 there and see whether it works there.

I strongly recommend against this, for 2 reasons:
1- Not everything related to Parallels Desktop has parallels in the name.
2- Not everything with parallels in the name is related to Parallels Desktop.

For manual uninstall instructions please refer to the knowledge base.

Thanks for the tips. Neither one helped though. I guess I'm stuck with boot camp. Thanks for the help though guys.

Thanks for the new tips. Neither of those worked either though.

I guess I'm just stuck with bootcamp. Thanks for the help though guys.
 
Let's fast forward approximately three years later, and Parallels still hasn't fixed this issue. I am installing Parallels 11 on El Capitan.
