PD 8 full support Fedora 18?

Disabled 3D support

I disabled 3D support and was able to get the desktop to launch, but it's very slow (not really usable). Parallels tools won't install.

Yes, I know: I disabled 3D and Fedora 18 run, but with very limitations.

If only is supported Fedora 18 3D - repeat 3D - I can upgrade to PD8.
If not, is better use VirtualBox.

But no response from the developers ?? Boh... 8-O

Okay, after getting the desktop up and running (albeit poorly) with 3D disabled I re-enabled 3D (and set video ram to 64MB, up from the 32MB default) and things are working pretty well (no more jerky mouse, etc). Still no joy getting parallels tools to install though.
 
I really dislike the unity interface so I have stayed away from it.

With Fedora 18 I got the tools to install but I made the dumb mistake of running the update manager afterwards. It did not go well.

You probably updated the kernel and the modules loaded by Parallels tools aren't compatible. I hate unity as well, but you can easily install the KDE Plasma Desktop and make it the default desktop.
 
Exactly what I did, dumb maneuver on my part. I swear I didn't see them in the update list.

I haven't used KDE in a long time, maybe I should give it another try.
