Special keys like pipe or backslash not working since latest upgrade

Since the latest upgrade I am not able to get any special characters like the pipe symbol or backslash. The same VM (Ubuntu 12.10, English, Swiss German Mac keyboard layout) is working with VMWare Fusion. Before the upgrade it was working and now my Parallels VMs are unusable with Parallels!!
 
Bumping, I installed paralells on my macbook yesterday and the special function keys like # and @ are in the wrong places according to my keyboard. I've double checked and I have the UK keyboard set, which is the one I believe I have.
