Parallels & Battlefield 1942

Hey all!

This is probably something that I need to add to the 'games not working' post, but I thought I'd ask first...

I've been trying to run Battlefield 1942 on my MacBook Pro using Parallels and Windows 7. The game installs fine (including the 1.6 update) but won't run properly. The game starts and the audio plays, but I get nothing on the display. I've tried different video resolutions by editing a settings file but still nothing.

Does this game just not work, or has anyone had any sucess in getting it running? It's pretty old and only a DX8 game (I think) so shouldn't be too difficult to get running. I just can't be bothered with rebooting into Win7 whenever I want to play it...

Bump up,
issue for me to!

I have currently parallels desktop 7 with windows 7

When I launch the game, show CD splash screen, then it closes (icon on down bar closes too) then game opens in total black screen, no sounds, and I have to quit with alt+F4 to use computer again.

[EDIT]
I just checked out, intro videos and some things in the game are mandatory to happen on 640x480 video resolution.
Problem is, windows 7 inside parallels does not have this option, even if I wanted to force windows and the game to run in such mode.
So please, HELP!

But the way I got it to work, silly as it may seem.. Turned off my LCD 32" Tatunt TV (which I use as my computer screen) wired up an old 15" compact screen and then restarted my computer, set the settings for the new screen, turned on the 32" and put dual mode so the same image would show on both screens though the picture would get some distortions on the 32" as of the wrong resolution. Then started the game. Changed resolution in game, and bam.. it worked and I played till I couldn't rank anymore :p But I would always have to keep the 15" connected to my computer though I turned it off and didnt use it.

Makes any sense?

I opened a ticket with tech support, have my problem solved in 48 hours.

Open the window to configure the virtual machine, go to Options, then Advanced, then enable SmartMouse (mine is set for automatic). This alone solved the issue.

You might also want to enable "Optimize modifier keys for games", solved some issues I had with pressing control and alt inside the game.
