Clipboard quit working after upgrade to Parallels 7

I've tried both - as well as both Ctrl-C and Cmd-C to do the copying. BTW the problem exists in both directions - ie copy on mac + paste in windows and vice versa.

I'm not sure if my Quick Reply worked, so I'll reply again:

Hm. You may have done this before, but I suggest a) you check whether you have the most recent Parallels Desktop build installed, and b) once you're sure you have the latest build, you then un-install the Parallels Tools using the Windows uninstall tool (Windows control panels -> software -> remove software), restart the VM, and then re-install the Parallels Tools from the Parallels menu. If that does not yield the desired effect then I'm at my wits' end.

I have the latest build of Parallels Desktop 7 (7.0.15052 revision 710728 November 11,2011). I tried deinstalling then restarting then reinstalling Parallels Tools then restarting again, but the problem persists. I guess I'll just have to hope for a fix in a later release. Very many thanks for all your help and advice!

So this appears to be an issue all the way from the early betas of P7..

Anyway, after exhausting this forum I did more searching around and found

this:http://superuser.com/questions/10671/parallels-copy-and-paste-not-working

Ok I just sorted this out. I shut the machine, then went configure > Features > Services

Then unchecked Share clipboard, then ok. Closed parallels so the machine configuration saved to disk.

Opened parallels went back and re-selected Share clipboard then fired up the machine and ... ta da ... fixed.

Update:

Well no it wasn't fixed as the problem came back, however upgrading to Beta5 has solved it 100%

This worked for me on the latest build. (7.0.15052)

C'mon Parallels, this was a fresh brand new install and I still had this issue.. Looks pretty bad on your product especially seeing how such an important feature has been broken on and off since beta?

Solved!

many thanks, zedora, you're a hero - this worked perfectly for me with Windows XP and latest Parallels Desktop build 7.0.15052

The issue has been re-introduced in Parallels Build 7.0.15094 Revision 749908 April 5th 2012. Reinstalling Parallels tools temporarily fixes the issue but within 5 minutes the issue is back! Restarting the Parallels Tools Windows Service does not have any affect! PLEASE FIX - this is more than inconvenient.

Continuing Shared Clipboard Saga

Just downgrade to the previous version of Parallels Desktop to get the shared clipboard working again - in my case I uninstalled the current version and went back to Build 7.0.14920
(Revision 689535; August 30, 2011).

copy/paste to Ubuntu VM from Mac v7

I'm new to Lion and also to Parallels, so I may be missing the obvious. I installed Parallels yesterday with no problems, and installed a fresh vm today on my Desktop 2 with the default Ubuntu os. When I try to copy from a browser in Desktop 1 and paste into the Ubuntu terminal window on Desktop 2, it doesn't work.

Things i tried: various key combinations (CTRL-V, ALT-V, Apple-V), removed and reinstalled Parallels Tools. No joy.

Is there some setting somewhere I'm missing, either in Parallels or in my System Settings? Is it broken? Or is there something else I haven't thought of?

I followed the directions from post 9 and it sounded crazy but it worked. I had tried everything. My copy and paste sometimes only works a few days and then it stops so I will follow these directions and if that works each time I will just deal with the workaround. I did have to reinstall my mac operating system and go back to parallels 7 parallels 8 will just not work with Mountain Lion. If I continue to have problems I am going to go back to Lion where I did not have all these problems.

I am working with paralles since '07
My XP VM is running since than without a problem.

But as I upgraded to 7.0.15107 4 Weeks ago, the clipboard-problem catched me...

I tried all the things, written here - but none works...

So it seems, I have to go back one release

But strange at it is: On my MacbookPro, The clipboard works with 15107...

ciao

Hi
I first had to do a reinstall Mountain Lion my operating system then I followed the steps in step 9. 7-8 parallels both have a issue. I tried 8 a number of times but no matter what I did 8 would not let me copy and paste. I am using Windows 7 not xp. XP could be the issue it with parallels 7. if you have not updated to Mountain Lion don't it has caused me to lose most of my battery life I had 6 hour battery now it is two hours.
