Please help!!!

I purcased Parallels Desktop 7 last month. However, after I upgraded PD7 to a most updated version recently, my Win XP crashed suddenly, and I couldn't access my XP desktop anymore. Is there any method to recover my XP? I tried to delete PD7 by deleting the icon from Launchpad directly, and to re-install later, but failed. Anyone can help me???
 
Have you ever backed up your VM? If so, delete the current version and restore the old version. If not, we might need to know a little more about what is happening when you start your VM. Could you perhaps describe what you see on the screen, or post screenshots here?
Uninstalling Parallels is by virtue of its uninstall application. That is available on the install CD or image. Just dragging the Parallels icon from Launchpad won't do much. But try not to uninstall just yet :-)
 
I didn't do any backup. But I shared all documents with MAC OS, uninstall shouldn't be any harm to me.
It's not good to post she screenshots here, since the operating system was in my country's language, and you may not understand it, but I can describe it here.
Because I'm not familiar with computer language, so my translation my not be appropriate. After I open PD, a window pops up, says: Explorer.EXE - application error, "0x7e568004" command appointed 0x00000000" memory, the memory cannot be read.(Actually I don't know what it means). Another window is a hardware installation wizard, but actually I didn't plug-in any hardware.
I didn't install any new software recently, except upgraded PD7. What's the best way to solve this problem?

Okay, the documents are one thing - your Windows installation and the Windows software is another. If the VM cannot be repaired you'll have to set up a new one.
It sounds as if your Windows XP installation got seriously corrupted. While you may not have plugged in any new hardware, it could be that Parallels has added new hardware such as the video camera that comes with most modern Macs. That's why the wizard might be popping up. Have you tried following the steps suggested by the wizard?
Can you gracefully shut down the VM by going to Start -> Shut down? Or trying to use the Shut Down command from Parallels' menu bar?
 
I tried to close the error window, and follows the steps suggested by the wizard, but it could not find any software to install.
After I closed both windows, the START menu and tool bar of Win XP disappeared, and I could do nothing with it. I have to shut down through PD's menu bar. I tried to insert my XP disc while open the VM. I could see a window pops up to instruct me install or recover my XP, but the two windows I mentioned was always on the top, so I couldn't click any key.
Should I uninstall PD, and re-install it from the very beginning?
 
Hi, it doesn't sound like a Parallels problem but more like a problem with your XP installation. I don't know whether Windows XP supports a repair install like Windows 7 does. The (relatively) easiest thing might be if you set up a new VM. Once that is running, delete the old VM. Don't delete Parallels, just the VM.
 
I don't have the install CD, I downloaded the software from website directly. Do I delete the VM by opening that software again?
 
No - just set up a new VM and install Windows XP as you did before. Once the new VM is up and running, you can delete the old VM. The VM is a file (actually a container, but for all practical purposes it behaves like one single file) that's usually located here: (your documents) > Parallels. You'll find the VM in the Parallels directory. Just throw that file (the VM file) into the trash.

BTW once the new VM is up and running and you have all the software installed, do make a back up: Just copy the VM file to a safe place. That way, if you ever run into trouble again, you can just replace the broken copy with your backup.
