How to REDUCE the size of a partition?

As an aside to this post which I understand and can complete -- can anyone offer any explanation as to how to reduce the size of a partition short of reinstalling? I originally set it up to use 30G and am finding I need about half that amount.

Hello,

I had the same problem and I solved it quite easily.
What you need is a disk cloning program, I'd recommend the Acronis TrueImage bootable rescue media or a BartPE version.
Add yto your VM a new harddrive (select the capacity) and then just clone the drive.
I had NO issues, and I did the above procedure with W2K, WinServer 2003 SP1 and WinXP SP2.

Good Luck
Idan.

I use Paragon Partition Manager inside the VM.

I think Parallels can then reduce the size of the disk image once the partition is smaller than the image.
