"No Device Installed"
I recently completed an OS install. I went from XP Pro to Windows 7. It appears that everything installed correctly and it was even able to update a few drivers. That being said I am having one major issue and I'm seeing a lot of redundant
and incorrect information on the net. I'd like to post in respect to what I've done and see if perhaps I have missed something. Before we start here a few important stats about my machine:
OS: Windows 7
MothrBrd: Asus SK8V
Chipset: K8T800
My sound:
Sound Blaster Live
Model SB0200
This issue is:
"The speaker icon on the bottom right of the tool bar has a red X indicating the following
Under the Playback Tab: "No audio devices are installed"
Recording Tab "Microphone"
Logitech Microphone (Pro 4000)
Default Device
There is a green circle with a check mark beside the microphone icon
My headset is the Logictech Pro 4000. It is a headset and microphone all-in-one. It is powered by USB. If I plug the device in then my Playback shows this headset as my sound. There is no option to change to another sound device because windows 7 does NOT recoginize the sound card. When I look in Device Manager under Sound it just shows teh headset. I've tried removing the headset driver then rebooting with the headset unplugged. It simply puts the driver back on. I've tried downloading several Sound Blaster Drivers, the problem is when you try to install the install stops because it reports there is no Sound Blaster device on the machine. I've also tried running a driver from Windoes Vista, no go.
What I need to figure out is how to make the device manager recognize the sound card. I think it's coming up under the heading of Other Devices-
-Multimedia Audio Controller
-PCI Input Device
I think that is my card because 1. It clearly states it is an Audio controller 2. It is plugged in via a PCI slot.
So again my question would be how do I make the device manager or Windows 7 recognize the Multimedia Audio Controller recognized as Sound Blaster? If I can get the system to recoginize the card as SB then I am sure I can get the drivers to do their job. Any thoughts?
