How to prevent VM from identifying CD's before the Mac does?

I am running an iMac Core2 Duo with Windows XP Pro. When I insert any type of CD or DVD disc, XP identifies it fist. Then I need to supend my VM just to get the Mac to identify the CD in the Finder and work with the media. Is there a way to get the Mac to have priority on this?
 
I disable the VM's CDROM access using the CD icon at the bottom of its window, unless I specifically need to connect it, which is rare.

Toggling the CD image on the lower right of the console window did the trick! Thank you for the tip.
