Trouble connecting to internet

We connect to the internet wirelessly via an airport (airport extreme). When I look on my Mac preferences under Network connections, it shows that Parallels is connected to the internet. BUT when I try to connect to the internet when running parallels, it keeps wanting to do a dial-up MSN connection. When I run the set-up for connection, there is no wireless option. This is a new problem that just cropped up (maybe with an update?) because previously, I had no problem connecting to the internet with Parallels.
Any suggestions???

Please let me see the output of the following commands:

ifconfig from Mac Terminal (Applications -> Utilities);
ipconfig /all from Windows CMD (Start -> Run -> CMD);
tracert www.parallels.com from Windows CMD.

Just copy the output into your next post.

thanks for your help, but I am sorry: I can't find ifconfig on my terminal info. Is there another place to find this?

I did a search on my mac for "ifconfig" under file name or content, and nothing came up.

Also, does Windows have the same kind of "finder"? I am quite new to PCs and don't know how to maneuver in it...How do I go to Start > Run > CMD?? Is my PC already running?
 
Mindyjol, I am sorry for not providing the detailed instructions:

- You should open Terminal on your Mac (for this open Finder, browse to Applications -> Utilities);
- Type the command ifconfig in Terminal and press Enter;
- Copy the output and paste it in your next post;
- On Windows side click Start -> Run;
- In the Run field type CMD and click OK;
- In the CMD window type ipconfig /all command and press Enter;
- In the same window type tracert www.parallels.com and press Enter;
- Copy the output and paste it in your next post.

Hello Mindyjol,

The Windows IP seems to be changed manually.
You should remove all drivers and settings made manually and restore the default settings.
To do so just remove the existing settings; reinstall Parallels; start your VM and launch Windows again.
In Mac OS the default settings should be restored too.

I have absolutely no idea how these settings were changed!!!! This is way beyond my expertise - I am a turn-on-and-go kind of computer user. Strange!!

How does one remove settings from a PC?
Also, do I need to uninstall Parallels before I reinstall it? Will i then need to reinstall all of the windows applications?

I am floored that this happened. How?????

Mindyjol, could you attach two screenshots?

1. Open Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection. On General tab click "Properties" button. In "Local Area Connection Properties" window choose Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item. Double click it and make a screenshot of the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" window.

2. Open Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager. Open Network adapters tree and make a screenshot.

I would like to check before describing in more details what you should do.

Did you get my screen shots? In the meantime, I just reset my windows pc to an earlier date, and that fixed everything! Who knows how the thing got messed up in the first place though???? thanks for all your help.
