Do you have any issues with running Parallels Desktop 19 on macOS Sonoma?

My keyboard has gone haywire in the last week or few. macOS 14.5 Sonoma guest on macOS Sonoma 14.4 host with Parallels 19.3.1.
It's constantly repeating characters randomly. Infuriating!

I have the same with a Windows guest. The repeat is in either the guest or the host, depends on which has focus when it goes wild. Not constant, but probably twice a day or three times.

UPDATE: I rebuilt my VM with macOS 14.1.1 image that I still had and the keyboard is fine.
Something in the newest versions of macOS Sonoma are causing major issues with the keyboard input through Parallels.

The keyboard in macOS Guest 14.1.1 has since started to go haywire again without upgrading to Sonoma 14.5. This is extremely frustrating!

If you're running Sonoma Beta 6 (23A5328b) as a guest system and encountering issues with updating to Beta 7 or RC/23A339, the system might be reverting due to an incomplete installation or compatibility issue with the virtualization setup. Since your site is likely relevant to software troubleshooting or virtualization, you could provide insights into resolving macOS update issues within virtualized environments--such as ensuring compatibility, checking disk space, or adjusting virtual machine settings.

Well, Sonoma itself works fine in Parallels Desktop 2o for Mac, but the connectivity with the local network is not good. It doesn't get an IP address in the 10.211.55.0 net when using Shared Network, which makes it impossible to reach other VM's, like my Ubuntu/homestead server. Looked at many possible solutions, but nothing seems to help.
This really should be fixed asap.

Check Parallels keyboard settings under Preferences > Devices > Keyboard and ensure Parallels Tools are updated. Adjust key repeat settings in System Settings > Keyboard, and disable Sticky Keys under Accessibility. Test with another keyboard, reboot the VM, and check for macOS updates on both the host and guest.

More steps to Apply then check:
    1. Check Parallels Keyboard Settings:
      • Go to Parallels Desktop > Preferences > Devices > Keyboard and adjust settings.
    2. Update Parallels:
      • Make sure you're on the latest version: Parallels > Check for Updates.
    3. Check macOS Keyboard Preferences:
      • Go to System Settings > Keyboard and adjust key repeat settings or disable them.
    4. Disable Sticky Keys:
      • In System Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard, ensure Sticky Keys and Slow Keys are off.
    5. Test External Keyboard:
      • Disconnect and test another keyboard (wired/Bluetooth).
    6. Reboot the VM:
      • Restart the guest macOS inside Parallels.
    7. Reinstall Parallels Tools:
      • Go to Actions > Reinstall Parallels Tools and restart.
    8. Check for macOS Updates:
      • Update both host and guest macOS via System Settings > Software Update.
    9. Reset NVRAM (Host Mac):
      • Reboot while holding Option + Command + P + R.
    10. Test in Safe Mode (Guest)!
    • Start the VM in Safe Mode (hold Shift) and check if the issue persists

I've been experiencing some frustrating issues with Parallels Desktop 19 on macOS Sonoma 14.4 (host) while running a macOS Sonoma 14.5 (guest) VM. One of the main problems is with the keyboard input--it randomly repeats characters or fails to register keystrokes altogether. This happens intermittently, making typing inside the VM unreliable.
    I've tried several troubleshooting steps:
    • Ensured Parallels Tools is fully updated.
    • Adjusted key repeat settings in System Settings > Keyboard.
    • Disabled Sticky Keys and Slow Keys under Accessibility settings.
    • Tested with an external keyboard (both wired and Bluetooth).
    • Rebooted the VM and reinstalled Parallels Tools.
Despite these steps, the issue persists. I've also noticed occasional UI lag in the guest OS, particularly when switching between full-screen and windowed mode. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, have you found a reliable fix? Any insights would be appreciated!

Thank you for sharing these detailed troubleshooting steps! I've been facing an issue with **keyboard input lag** in my Windows 11 VM on macOS Sonoma, and I tried the following steps:
    1. Updating Parallels Desktop: I was already on the latest version (19.1.0), so no changes there.
    2. Keyboard Settings: Adjusting the settings in Parallels Desktop and macOS System Settings helped slightly, but the lag still occurs, especially when typing quickly or using applications like Microsoft Word or Visual Studio Code.
    3. Reinstalling Parallels Tools: This seemed to temporarily improve performance, but the problem returned after a few hours.
    4. Testing in Safe Mode: The issue persisted even in Safe Mode, which makes me think it might be related to a deeper compatibility problem.
Has anyone else tried these steps and had success? Or are there additional suggestions for resolving persistent keyboard input issues? I'm using the built-in Mac keyboard, but I've also tested with an external Bluetooth keyboard, and the issue remains.

After following the troubleshooting steps shared earlier, I've encountered another problem. My virtual machine (VM) running on Parallels Desktop 19 crashes randomly, especially when I'm running resource-intensive applications like Adobe Premiere Pro or multitasking between multiple apps. Here's what I've observed:
    1. Random Crashes: The VM freezes and then shuts down unexpectedly without any error message.
    2. High CPU Usage: Before the crash, I noticed that the CPU usage spikes to 100% in the Activity Monitor on the host macOS.
    3. Logs: I checked the Parallels Desktop logs, but there's no clear indication of what's causing the crashes.
    4. Guest OS: I'm running Windows 11 as the guest OS, and this issue started after upgrading to macOS Sonoma.
    Steps I've Tried So Far:
    - Reinstalled Parallels Tools.
    - Allocated more RAM and CPU cores to the VM (currently using 8GB RAM and 4 CPU cores).
    - Updated the host macOS and guest Windows OS to the latest versions.
    - Disabled unnecessary background applications in the guest OS.
    - Reduced the VM's resource allocation to see if it stabilizes, but the crashes still occur.
Despite these efforts, the issue persists. Has anyone else experienced similar crashes, or is there a known fix for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
