Parallels build 3188, XP SP2, OS X 10.4.9, both trackpad two fingers and Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse right click work fine in OS X, worked fine in XP in Parallels, but the right click capability in XP stopped just now. I have not changed any configurations in OS X or in XP since the right click was working was working in XP. I have not changed anything in Parallels base config. I have added a new VM, Fedora Core 6, in its own VM space, although I only mention that in the interest of full disclosure, thinking it is unrelated. Any idea where I can look to see why XP right click just went away?
OK, a bit more data, weird data at that: XP right click works, but only in the system tray. Once the cursor is any father up the screen than the system tray, nada no more right click. I guess today is a bad day to stop sniffing glue.
That is very strange... Does the right button still do alt+click in the OS X side? Have you tried re-installing Paralells tools?
Not sure what you mean by "alt+click" on the OS X side. two fingers on the MacBook touchpad emulate a right click just fine in OS X, as does a real right click on my Logitech V270. I have not re-installed Parallels tools, b ut I will, and will report back upon completion. Expanding on my second post about right click working in the system tray, any screen real estate invoked from the system tray, such as a properties for the system tray, allows a working right click in the resulting pop-up, no matter where on screen it is, but move horizontally off that pop-up onto the windows background, and no more right click. Very odd. Back in a minute after I let Ad-aware finish scanning and then reinstall Parallels Tools...
Reinstalled parallels Tools, no change, still busted. So, explain this: In OS X everything works as expected. In XP, everything except right click works. The pesky wheel works. The left click works. The trackpad left click works. Dragging two fingers on the trackpad emulates the mouse wheel. Still no right click. Hardware is fine, since it works in OS X, in the system tray, and in windows that were invoked from the system tray. So, how did my instance of XP suddenly get lobotomized? What did I do to it? How can I fix it?
Same problem here, system seems to "hang" on right click from time to time... if you wait for about 10 secs, the context menu will appear. strange.
Have you tried 'binding' a key combination to use in conjunction with your mouse click to emulate a right-click from the Parallels menu?
Yuk. More info. Just tried to download a print driver from the HP website, got a popup telling me I don't have sufficient permissions. WTF? Just ran Spybot, Ad-aware, AVG Anti-virus, and Advanced Windows Care, got rid of The Usual Suspects, nothing really jumped out at me, but insufficient permissions? I mean, really. I'm the superior being here, as I know where the power switch is. "Open the pod bay doors, HAL". NOT. Time to reload, get rid of whatever is infecting my XP instance.
Final resolution: reinstall XP, all's happy now. Not sure what killed it, but it came back to life with a fresh install, so I will spend no more time trying to figure it out.
That's good. I follow that philosophy if I spend more than an hour or two looking at something on a client computer.
Same here, unless the problem either intrigues me (not in this case), or if I think it might re-appear (not here either). Path of least resistance for this kid.
How to right click in Parallels in XP I am a total newbie to Windows and to Parallels -- How does one right click in Windows what keyboard cmmd is need to do this? thanks --
Yeah, I love problems. I went to Belize last year and all the internet was down with Satellite, and after a lot of pain I was able to get things working a little... It was fun, just sat in the room/outside with my computer connected to the wireless router configuring the satellite dish listening to music. eloera, typically you hold down ctrl or ctrl+shift. You can edit this via the Menu Bar Parallels -> Preferences and the last tab on that.
Eloera, another option on my MBP is in System Preferences in OS X, in the Keyboard and Trackpad section/icon, in the Trackpad tab, the bottom choice under Trackpad Gestures, select "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click". Option three is to get an external two (or more) button mouse.
Yes, that applies if you have Clicking checked. With Clicking unchecked, the bottom option is, "Place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click." David
