I installed a VM with Windows XP in Beta 1 (on an MBP 2.16 with 2 GB) and have updated Parallels throughout the development process to final release with no problems. A few days ago, I configured a second VM for Ubuntu Linux 6.06, and that works fine. Unfortunately, the Windows XP VM no longer works.

When I try to open XP, I see the Windows logo, and then the menu screen telling me that XP closed incorrectly and offering the menu to open up normally, in safe mode, with the last known good configuration, command prompt only, etc. No matter which option I choose, I get the Windows logo, followed quickly by the famous blue screen for a second or less, then back to the XP "closed incorrectly" (safe mode, last know good config, etc.) menu. The blue screen appears for just a flash, making it impossible to read much. The whole cycle lasts 4-5 seconds, and there is no way I have found to interrupt it as it happens.

I have attempted to fix the problem by creating a new XP VM using the original partition, but the problem persists.

Is there anything I can do short of a complete reinstall of the XP partition?

    Just some wild guesses:
    * Try the reset button that is one of the buttons near the power on button
    * Double check that your hardware and resources "profiles" information is correct.
    * What happens if you tell it to boot up in safe mode?
