I've tried twice to get XP Home to install. It gets through the dos-like copy files pages, then crashes at
    Error:
SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:\I386\asms\10\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.MAN" on line 4.

Error:Installation failed: D:\I386\asms. Error message: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Is there anything stupid that I am missing?

MacBook, 2 GHz, 80 GB, 1 GB Ram.

    Thanks!

    Fixed

Thanks to parallels tech support -- they suggested making an .iso image and installing from that. I've got XP installed now!

I had the same problem. How do I make a .iso image?

I tried 2x and got two different error messages:
    Windows Setup
    The file usuhci.sys is corrupted

    and

File ntfs.sys caused an unexpected error (512) at line 5091 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c

    edit
Never mind. I found the Parallels Image Tool

Installing from the .iso image worked for me also!
