I have had this problem for a while. I was hoping that it would be fixed in 3.0, but it doesn't seem to have been fixed. If I have my Windows XP SP2 VM running, and I change the Mac OS X network location on the Apple menu (from "Automatic" to "Work" or vice versa) then Parallels freezes and gives the spinning wheel of death mouse cursor when hovering over the start menu etc. This problem does not occur if the VM is suspended or stopped. I am using Coherence, I haven't tested if it happens when Coherence is turned off. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a bug that can be fixed in a newer version?
There was a note some time back that you shouldn't use the apple menu within parallels... I actually pushed a bit back then to find out why, and after a little explaining they finally told me which item caused it and why... Ironically you found the item in your own... I actually used my FruitMenu haxie by Unsanity and removed the item from parallels, that way it's impossible for me to have this problem...
I actually was getting a hard system freeze (frozen cursor and all apps) from this same thing that Parallels acknowledged in these forums and said would be fixed! I've been too scared to try this yet with 3.0 because I don't want my whole machine to freeze again! Steve
Same here. Reproducable 100%. Anytime I change system location (home <-> work) parallels process would freeze and then in a minute or so the whole system would freeze as well. It's actually the window server process (WindowServer) that freezes; I could logon to my MBP via ssh, kill WindowsServer process and the whole GUI would happily start over again. I was also hoping that Parallels would fix this bug in 3.0 but obviously no such luck... George
