I have recently, with no known changes preceeding it, developed a problem where XP Pro crashes, usually immediately at start-up or shortly after. I get the blue screen briefly, filled w. data that flashes to quick to read. After restart, I get the "System has recovered from a serious error" and asking if I want to report it. If I report, I then get a screen that says:

    "Consider BIOS Upgrade"
The notice then goes on to say a problem has been detected in my RAM, and the suspected problem is that I have upgraded my RAM without updating my BIOS. It then disucsses how one updateds the BIOS.

My host machine is a Mac Book Pro, and the RAM IS upgraded from original, but with great care to select the proper characteristics. No problem is occurring on the host machine, and the RAM upgrade was done over 2 years ago. I believe the BIOS in question here would be supplied by the Parallels VM in any case, would it not?

The guest OS is a fully and currently updated copy of XP Pro, and this problem is newly occurring in my second year of successful operation of Parallels Desktop. My PD is version 8, and has all current updates (I know there have been at least 2). The last update of Parallels Desktop was in July of this year, and this problem HAS developed since then, but not immediately after. I have only noticed these crashes for about the last month, and they are unpredictable and seem random, though always early after start-up.

I notice there is a thread from 2010-11, with PD 6 I believe, reporting a very similar problem and with several other users chiming in with the same experience, but NO responses.

Anyone have any suggestions? Is this a problem that Parallels Support would/should handle?
