Hello, I am new to Parallels so please excuse any wrong terminology. I have an old (2015) MacBook Pro that still has MacOS but I just started running Mint Linux within Parallels on it. My music collection is stored on a 1TB external drive on XFAT format (because I read that that is cross-compatible). I have not yet attempted to use it. I would like to play my music using Mint/Clementine from Mint within Parallels. I have read that XFAT is not a reliable filesystem for day to day use, because it has no journaling, although it is OK for moving things from here to there. Will Parallels/Mint support running my music collection from an external USB drive? Which filesystem should that drive be on, for best results? Is there a filesystem that both Mint and MacOS will read? Thanks for any tips, Mary
The ideal file system would be APFS. Instead of using USB passthrough to access the drive from the vm you would use shared folders. https://kb.parallels.com/en/124928 https://docs.parallels.com/pdfm-ug-...n-macos-and-windows/sharing-files-and-folders
